Oooh… Sorry for some.  The fantastically massive coachella festival in the states is under threat.
The Volcanic ash currently giving Europe grief is making flights to the festival impossible for several European based acts.

sometimes...living in the southern hemisphere in africa has its benefits

This is the festival that “Die Antwoord” are down to play.  Whilst a great many of the acts are already in the states.  It has affected several of the top names.

It appears that the flights from the UK are cancelled till at least 6pm today.

  1. Martin! This is Helen – from Sweden remember!? 🙂 I hope so, unless I’m on “hide” filter haha 😉 I just saw that on FB and found the link to your blog! I’m also on wordpress although with a slightly different blog approach.

Anyhow, Coachella!! I’ve always wanted to go and always been envious of people that do, so now I can’t help it – it feels almost cunning that other people might not enjoy the bands either! (the line up is insane!!!)

Oh, I hope you weren’t planning on going…

    1. Hello Helen…of course i remember you…hehe……
Ive just started blogging. I hope i can keep it up….but its good fun.
Im sadly not going to coachella. In fact I could barely afford to go to a local festival at the moment.
I badly injured my leg in January and im still struggling with it. Havent been working in months. Although i have just started doing gigs again.
About time too. Im not sure if you have heard of “die antwoord” they are a south african group from cape town that have exploded on the internet. They are on the line up
at coachella. They are already in the states i think…so they shouldnt have too much of a problem getting there. This volcano is amazing. It has made the european skies the quietest they have been since world war 2 in terms of aviation. Im off to read your blog now….

      cheers

  2. Yeah, Maria mentioned that you’d been handicapped for a while! That’s too bad but glad to hear you’re getting better and getting out there again. I will def check out die antwoord, gotta support SA music as much as possible!

All is good on my side and no ashes in the Swedish sky today! Hope you enjoy my blog, and I’ll be sure to peek in here again!

    Take care!

    1. I take it you saw their stuff on youtube…”enter the ninja” is just a work of awesomeness personified. They really have done well and done it quickly…At least it took off once the video was done. They signed to interscope records in the states which is home to some of the biggest artists worldwide….ive no idea what folks overseas make of their language. I love it…and Im proudly bilingual enough to get what is being said and understand….its more street afrikaans then church-afrikaans that they were always trying to teach us…so chuffed for them. Although in saying that…Waddy (ninja) is a bit of a dick. oh well…they have enough talent for me to overlook that.

  3. I understand that there is a lot of underlying culture and Afrikaans slang which is cool. There is something very special in the things we can’t explain or translate and South Africa is such a complex country like that with all your different languages and cultures boiling in the same pot. The group definitely have a lot of talent and uniqueness and those things always shine through.

    Tot siens bru! 😉
