Tonight’s anchorage looks beautiful. Not overly sorted for supplies. Just need some cold fluid ASAP. Should get a good rest here though.

Making progress. Rounded the club foot of Italy. Soon we will be on the gammy ankle and before you know it, heading up the shin splints. Back in sun soaked Blighty for tea time and a pizza with doner kebab meat on it.

I guess I am homeless by traditional measures. Might as well look the part.

Stromboli volcano about 30nm to the north west of me. There is a strange haze in the air. I wonder if it’s due to a little volcanic activity?

And just like that. The Messina Straits are over. Time for a cold beer and fresh underpants.

That is Mount Etna in the distance. Sicily is just a short hop over the Messina Straits away. We are going to try make as much progress with the tides and current as possible. Not a great deal of place to anchor off If things turn a little messy. So we are making sure we have some options if we need alternatives.

On anchor for the night on the southern tip of Italy at a place called Bova Marina. It’s one of the few places we can stop for the night before we approach the Messina Straights that separate Italy and Sicily by as little as a mile. Need good weather and tides for that. Might stop just shy of it tomorrow and approach it the next day. For now, a glass of budget wine and pasta. I’m rather tired. Jonathan did a sterling job on his first day at sea.

Big Ben Kebbaberia. Sometimes cultures overlap with a touch of confusion.

Boat watching. My own boat. Seems a bit surreal to see her floating out there.
